Care Guide
& FAQ
Raw hair behaves differently from processed hair — and that is the point. With the right care routine, your Crowned Legacy piece will outlast any chemically treated alternative by years. This guide tells you exactly how.
The Six Rituals
A Care Routine That Lasts
01
First Use
Before installing, detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb from ends to roots.
Do not wet before your first wear. Inspect the lace and knots. Raw hair may shed lightly at first —
this is normal and settles within 1–2 washes.
02
Washing
Wash every 2–3 weeks using a sulphate-free shampoo. Work in downward strokes —
never circular. Rinse in cool water only. Follow immediately with a moisture-rich conditioner,
leaving on for 5–10 minutes before rinsing.
03
Drying & Styling
Air dry on a wig stand wherever possible. When heat is necessary, always apply
a heat protectant spray first. Use ceramic or tourmaline tools only. Maximum temperature: 200°C.
Never apply heat to wet hair.
04
Nightly Care
Braid or twist before sleep. Wrap in a satin scarf or sleep on a satin
pillowcase. Never sleep with wet or damp hair. If wearing a wig, remove it before sleeping wherever
possible to extend lace longevity.
05
Colour & Chemical
Raw hair accepts colour beautifully. Do not bleach above a level 27 Honey
Blonde without professional guidance. Never use box dye. Avoid relaxers and keratin treatments —
they alter the raw integrity of the hair permanently.
06
Storage
Store wigs on a wig stand or flat in the original box — never folded. Keep
bundles in the satin bag provided. Store away from direct sunlight and humidity. Deep condition
before long-term storage of 4 weeks or more.

Specific Guidance
✓ Do
- Store on a wig stand when not wearing
- Detangle before and after every wear
- Use a wig grip or adjustable band for secure fit
- Apply lace tint or bleach knots for a seamless finish
- Deep condition every 4–6 weeks
- Use 91% isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive safely
✕ Do Not
- Sleep in your wig without securing it first
- Pull the lace — it tears and cannot be repaired
- Apply adhesive directly to the hair strands
- Use acetone or nail polish remover near the lace
- Wash more than once per week
- Fold or compress the unit in storage
✓ Do
- Co-wash weekly when installed for best moisture retention
- Detangle from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb
- Apply leave-in conditioner after every wash
- Use a heat protectant before any tool use
- Deep condition monthly while installed
- Store uninstalled bundles in the original satin bag
✕ Do Not
- Tug or rip through tangles — work slowly from the ends
- Use sulphate-heavy shampoos — they strip moisture
- Apply excessive heat without protection
- Mix bundles from different purchases — cuticle direction may differ
- Use petroleum-based products — they cause buildup on raw hair
- Store in plastic bags — they trap moisture and cause mildew
✓ Do
- Bleach knots before install for a natural scalp appearance
- Use a damp cloth and low heat to melt the lace — never direct iron
- Apply Got2b or lace glue for a secure hold
- Clean the lace with 91% isopropyl alcohol during removal
- Allow lace to dry fully before reapplying adhesive
- Lay baby hairs with a soft toothbrush for a natural edge
✕ Do Not
- Pull the frontal from the hairline — always release from the perimeter
- Apply heat directly on HD lace — it melts and cannot be repaired
- Use oil-based products near the lace — they dissolve adhesive
- Over-bleach knots — thin the knots, do not eliminate them
- Cut the lace too close on first install — leave extra to work with
- Reuse heavily worn lace — replace the unit when the lace thins

Products & Hair Quality
What does "raw" hair actually mean?
Raw hair is collected from a single donor with cuticles fully intact and
running in one direction from root to tip. It has never been chemically processed,
steamed, or coated with silicone. This is what distinguishes it from "virgin" hair,
which is a looser term that allows for some minimal processing.
How long will the hair last?
With proper care, Crowned Legacy Studio hair lasts 12–24 months in
bundles and 6–18 months as a wig, depending on wear frequency. Raw hair that is
maintained well can last significantly longer. The single-donor sourcing and intact
cuticles mean it withstands heat and styling far better than blended or processed
alternatives.
Can I colour the hair?
Yes. Raw hair accepts colour exceptionally well precisely because it has
not been chemically treated beforehand. You can safely lighten up to a level 27 Honey
Blonde. For lighter results, we recommend a professional colourist. Never use box dye —
it deposits colour unevenly on raw hair and can cause irreversible damage.
Does the hair shed or tangle?
Minimal shedding is normal in the first 1–2 washes as any loose hairs
work free from the weft. This settles quickly. Tangling should not be an issue if
cuticles are maintained — always detangle from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb and
keep the hair moisturised.
Lace & Wigs
What is HD lace and why does it matter?
HD (High Definition) lace is an ultra-thin, sheer Swiss lace that becomes
virtually invisible on all skin tones when installed correctly. Standard lace has a more
visible texture and requires more customisation. HD lace requires less tinting, blends
more naturally, and creates a more realistic scalp appearance straight from the box.
What is the difference between 4×4, 5×5, 13×4 and 13×6?
These measurements refer to the size of the lace panel. 4×4 and 5×5 are
closure sizes — the lace sits in the centre top of the wig and provides a parting area.
13×4 and 13×6 are frontal sizes — the lace spans the full width of the hairline from ear
to ear, providing significantly more styling freedom including ponytails and deep side
parts.
Do the wigs come with knots pre-bleached?
Yes. All Crowned Legacy Studio wigs come with pre-bleached knots as
standard. The knots have been lightened to reduce their visibility against the scalp.
You may wish to apply an additional light bleach pass for a more seamless result
depending on your skin tone — this is a matter of personal preference.
What density should I choose?
150% is our most popular choice — full but not excessive, ideal for everyday wear. 180% is ideal for clients who
prefer a visibly voluminous result. 200% is our most dramatic option, recommended for
photoshoots or special occasions. When in doubt, 150% is the most versatile starting
point.
